We’ve turned the corner and Old Man Winter is behind us. Now, we can look forward to warmer temps and longer hours of daylight! Already we have enjoyed being outside one night playing “Mission Impossible” on a Friday evening. And, we’re looking forward to many evenings of volleyball, capture the flag, kick ball and so much more! Speaking of our Friday Night Fellowships, we have been studying the book of Esther... and what a challenging book it has been for us. When there is no direct mention of God, of worship, of living in obedience.... or disobedience... to God in the entire book, it has been interesting to see that there are very real biblical truths and themes that we can extract from this scripture. Our youth group has had some good discussions on relationships in marriage between a husband and wife (King Xerxes and Queen Vashti), what characteristics and qualities are attractive in guys and gals (King Xerxes and Esther) and if it is appropriate to disobey authority (Mordecai and Haman). As we continue our study of Esther in April, we look forward to additional life lessons that we can all learn from!
Looking at the calendar for April, here are some important dates to be aware of. We will not have Friday Night Fellowships on April 2nd, for Good Friday, and April 30th, for a congregational meeting. We will have Fellowships on the 9th (Chapter 4 of Esther) and the 16th (Chapter 5). On Friday, April 23rd, we’ll enjoy a Family Bowling Night at Timonium Fairlanes. I will reserve 5 lanes, however if more than 25 people commit to coming, I will arrange for additional lanes. More details will be announced, but please sign up on the sheet in the narthex.
One other deadline is approaching, and that is for the Summer Youth worker. If you, or if you know of someone who might be interested in serving our youth group this summer, please have them contact me as soon as possible for more information or an application.
And two final notes. Our Senior High group will have attended the “Impact: 2010: Noise” Conference in Ocean City, MD from March 26th through the 28th. I hope several of our youth will be able to tell you how that weekend impacted them in the next newsletter!
AND... are there any campers out there?? In planning for this summer’s activities, I would like to try an overnight camping trip for youth, family and our College/Career group. We did an overnight trip several years ago that many families seemed to enjoy. If you would be willing to plan and organize a trip, please contact me as soon as you can.
Thanks for your support and prayers!
